Ponytails and Power Saws
None of the middle-school girls on the cutting crew at the First United Methodist Church had ever used a power saw before they started making window-boxes for the LBJ Medical Center, but they picked it up and added a new skill to their personal lists. What was so funny? Discovering that long pony tails require assistants to hold them away from the moving blades. These 8th graders were, from left, Shay Zbtovsky, Alayna Runnels, Madison Bushnell, Sarai Alvarado, and Jamie Ballenger.
Window-boxes for the LBJ Medical Center
Middle school youth at the First United Methodist Church took on the job of building window-boxes for the LBJ Medical Center, starting with cutting pieces for assembly. These workmen were, from left, Luke Liesman, Asher Price, Seth Bushnell. Justin Bacon, and Sam Encina. The trainers had an ulterior motive; they want the youth to pick up the skills so they can help with mission projects.
